AT LAST, A CURE!
For years, scientists sought a cure for the chronic malady known as MSP (Med School Pressure). Just when it seemed everyone had given up hope, it took a first-year med student to come up with the cure! After all, who but a med student could truly understand the incredible pressure from the endless barrage of information to be absorbed, the constant stress of cramming for exams and the anxiety of the impending USMLE boards?
RESEARCH
Dr. Charles Knouse entered medical school at the age of 40, after a very successful career as a communications consultant and trainer. He was amazed at how much information was being forced into such a short time frame and how inefficiently and boringly the material was being presented by the professors. He observed fellow students becoming stressed out, struggling from test to test, cramming and praying to pass each one. And these were bright people . . . the cream of the crop.
DIAGNOSIS
So, finding himself in a medieval learning environment and
using his
experience of teaching corporate executives to communicate
with each other
and their employees, Dr. Knouse developed a speed learning
technique that
enabled him to learn and retain all the information needed
to pass the tests
and, more important, the information he needed to become a
good physician!
PRESCRIPTION
The technique was simple . . . audio
cassettes with all the detailed information in a question -
pause - answer format, step by step, detail by detail, in a
linear progression that began with an overview and became
progressively more detailed, with lots of repetition and
summaries for each session. In addition to regular study
time, with an inexpensive player Dr. Knouse had access to
this information any time during his busy day that he had a
spare moment.
REVOLUTIONARY CURE
It worked flawlessly! He stopped having to sweat tests, passing them easily. Instead of cramming for tests and forgetting most of the material after the test, thereby creating the need for endless review, the system enabled Dr. Knouse to retain all of the information which made it easier to relate facts to different situations, symptoms to diseases and cures! He went right to the top group in his class. When you think about it, it makes so much sense, one wonders why this system wasn't thought of years ago!
RESULTS
Dr. Knouse shared his cassettes with some
friends in his class and they loved them. Immediately
they were able to concentrate on being doctors instead of
spending precious time cramming for tests. Because the
